INTRODUCING “THE CAEP SPARK” - We’re thrilled to announce the official rebranding of CAEP’s monthly newsletter to The CAEP Spark — a name that captures the energy, innovation, and collaborative spirit driving Central Alberta forward. This new title reflects what our region does best: ignite ideas, connect communities, and spark opportunities that create real impact. Just as one spark can light a fire, each story we share aims to inspire progress, showcase leadership, and celebrate the partnerships that fuel growth across our municipalities, industries, and communities.

CAEP continues to advance several ongoing projects including:
COMMUNITY INVESTMENT READINESS PROFILES
CAEP has partnered with the Northern and Regional Economic Development (NRED) Program to commission Community Profiles for 10 CAEP members, as well as an updated Central Alberta Regional Profile.
These profiles will support members’ economic development efforts and overall investment readiness. Most community profiles have been completed, and the regional profile will be unveiled at the Fall General Meeting.
HOWSE PASS CORRIDOR STUDY UPDATE
CAEP and other regional partners have commissioned an updated pre-feasibility study for the proposed "Howse Pass Corridor." This corridor is a road that would create a more direct transportation route between BC and central Alberta, running from Highway 1, just north of Golden BC, to Saskatchewan River Crossing in Alberta.
CPCS, the firm conducting the study update, is collecting and analyzing the data now, and will be ready to reveal the initial results in November. CPCS will hold a Technical Workshop on November 27, 2025 at 1:15 – 2:15 pm in Rocky Mountain House, directly following the FGM to present its initial findings and obtain input. All CAEP members are invited to attend.
TEAM CENTRAL ALBERTA
Something big is building in the heart of Alberta. TEAM CENTRAL ALBERTA is CAEP’s bold new partnership initiative that builds on our 27-year history as Alberta’s first Regional Economic Development Alliance. It’s a network where industry leaders, innovators, and changemakers join forces with our 30+ municipal members to shape the future of our region. This isn’t a committee or a club — it’s an economic alliance. A place where collaboration sparks ideas, ideas drive strategy, and strategy turns into real-world impact across Central Alberta’s communities, industries, and corridors of growth.
When you join TEAM CENTRAL ALBERTA, you’re not just watching the region evolve — you’re helping to lead it. Members will gain insider access to CAEP’s Advisory Panel, where together we’ll identify priorities, set direction, and champion the opportunities that define Central Alberta’s competitive edge. Whether your passion is energy, agriculture, innovation, or workforce development, your voice will help drive a regional force built on shared vision and action. This is your invitation to get in the game — because when industry and municipalities pull together, Central Alberta wins.
